Don Greene aka DJ Greenery started his musical journey and love for the beat at a young age in Duluth, with a father who was a drummer and got Don his first drum set at age 9. This was the first step to a passion for sound that would never waver. Music was always important in Don’s household, and vinyl records of Prince, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan & Motown were always being spun from his Dad’s collection.
Then in the late 90s, Don was able to see real DJ masters from the Midwest on real turntables mixing and scratching dance records. From that point on, he knew what he was meant to do. Not long after, he was able to afford a couple budget turntables and a mixer. After years of practicing non-stop in his bedroom, he made his debut as a full fledged turntablist at Pizza Luce Duluth, starting what was possibly the first all hip-hop and funk DJ party in the area. By early 2004 Don wanted more opportunities to create & build so he moved to the Twin Cities and quickly established himself in the hip-hop community dominated by the now famous Rhymesayers Entertainment record label. During that period he made his mark at the Dinkytowner spinning records weekly, digging for vinyl obsessively and also getting his orginal producer chops up under the banner of DJ Green+EMS with his long time musical collaborator Ian Anderson.
Today you can find DJ Greenery spinning every genre under the sun and playing music full time as the MN Gophers football pre-game DJ, MN Timberwolves backcourt club DJ, at his 5 year plus residency at Clubhouse Jager for “Beatsplotation,” SEVEN Ultralounge, “Motown on Mondays” event, and representing the Slipmats Radio Crew and GenerationNOW Entertainment.
Because of his encyclopedic musical knowledge and advanced technical skills on the turntables, DJ Greenery has become one of the Twin Cities’ most well-rounded and respected DJs.
