Since he was a young kid banging on ice cream buckets with chop-sticks, to being a successful drummer in bands throughout his youth, Matt McCabe (DJ Matty Matt) set the stage for the musical knowledge that he carries with him today into the entertainment world.
DJ Matty Matt began his DJ career in 2007 in Australia with a wedding company. He successfully rocked numerous weddings and a handful of corporate events in his time there from 2007-2009. He moved back to his home state of Minnesota in the spring of 2009 and continued to DJ in Northfield, MN at the college bars that the students of St. Olaf college and Carlton College would frequent. He quickly gained recognition for his DJ skills, song selection, and high energy. This recognition from the student body made him the college party DJ for St. Olaf college parties from 2009-2012 for 600+ students at each party.
In the fall of 2011 Matty Matt entered a DJ competition at ENVY Nightclub in Minneapolis, MN. He won the competition and quickly gained guest spots on Friday and Saturday nights there. Shortly after those guest spots, they officially turned into a residency on Friday and Saturday nights in the back room at ENVY Nightclub.
Since ENVY, DJ Matty Matt continues to DJ at numerous venues in the Twin Cities nightclub scene. The Pourhouse, Insert Coin(s), Rougue at the Lounge, LUSH Bar, Solera Rooftop, Union Rooftop, The Tangiers, Santorini, Station 280, Memory Lanes, and Carbones sports bar. In addition to the nightclub scene he’s DJ’d corporate events for Target, A’GACI, and Cotton On, just to name a few. For the 2012-2013 NHL hockey season, DJ Matty Matt was the official DJ for the Minnesota Wild’s VIP events. Most recently for the 2013-2014 NBA season he DJ’s for the Minnesota Timberwolves with GenerationNOW Entertainment.
DJ Matty Matt’s ability to play to his crowd and take them on a musical roller coaster ride with quick mixes, turntable skills and playing the right song at the right moment throughout the night is what sets him apart from other DJ’s in the industry. When those lights come on at the end of the night the crowd will not want to get off the ride they’ve just been on.
