Nick Morris has always been a lover of music, some of his first memories are dancing in front of the TV watching MTV music videos. His grandparents raised him on big band and dixieland jazz, his grandfather being a long time touring jazz trumpet player. He began in junior high school DJing his friends birthday parties, eventually DJing events for his high school dances. Using the turntable as an actual instrument, the art of “scratching” became his next focus. He started to DJ in bands and various hip hop groups throughout Minneapolis, playing his first live show at a downtown venue at the age of 16.
Since then, Nick has graduated to more professional events such as weddings, corporate parties and gatherings to opening for national touring acts of all genres. He has spent the past five years as a featured showcase DJ at the annual SXSW music festival in Austin, TX with his label Last Triumph. He has even performed at the touring festival Vans Warped Tour, Milwaukees’ Summer Fest and has toured the Midwest extensively with bands and hip hop groups, all along providing DJ services for private events and weddings. Since the age of 18 he has provided entertainment for over 300 private events of all kinds as an independent DJ.
These days he is still DJing weddings, sometimes up to 15 or more a year while holding two successful residencies at both the Maple Tavern (Thursdays and Two Stooges billiard hall (Fridays and Saturdays). He is also a featured DJ in various nightclubs in downtown Minneapolis, staying busy in the studio being a session DJ adding scratches to hip hop songs, and still opening for various national touring acts all around town. Most recently he has joined GenerationNOW to work with some of the best DJs in the business hoping to provide entertainment to more people than ever before.
