3 Keys to Keeping Your Wedding Dance Floor Packed 2021

Whether you booked Jazzy Jeff, Calvin Harris, or your partially deaf uncle DJing your wedding, there are some things YOU can do to help make aid in keeping the dance floor poppin all night long on your big day. We asked our DJ team with thousands of gigs of experience their input:

  1. Keep refills close!

If you have any input regarding how the room is laid out, it’s best to keep the bar as close as possible to the dance floor. This way people who are tearing it up don’t have to step too far away to grab a fresh one. Dancers can also judge the length of the bar line without breaking stride. Why get in line when you can keep shaking a hip? Also, it keeps the wallflowers more engaged. Not everyone loves to dance (crazy, but true), BUT with a bar close to the dance floor, it keeps people centrally located and more likely to hop on over to join in.

  2. All eyes on the bride and groom!

It’s YOUR big day. Friends and family have gathered to celebrate YOU! When you are on the dance floor, people will follow. It’s that simple. Weddings where the bride and groom are dancing 60% of the time or more are always the strongest events. Even if you aren’t always the biggest dancer, staying close to the dance floor will help keep the party bumpin.

  3. No one knows the crowd like you!

All of our DJs are draped in experience when it comes to reading a crowd and how to keep the mix of music moving seamlessly. That being said, you definitely know your family and friends better than the DJ. Communicating with the DJ about specific songs you, your friends, and your family love the most is important (see here for tips). Know that your maid of honor NEEDS to hear that one old school Beyonce track? Uncle Jim will break dance if he hears some James Brown? You have that special insight to enrich the dance floor even further. Don’t be shy and let the DJ know ahead of time so they can be prepared to maximize the party.

  4. LIGHTS!

If you have the budget, consider upgraded lighting for the dance floor and ambient lighting around the room. It helps create an elevated party experience and draw people to the dance floor. Change in the lighting from dinner into the dance portion of the night gets people even more excited for a good time. Check out our packages here.
